10 Things To Do While At Brunel University


Brunel University London offers a fantastic student experience, helped by its great location in West London. Whether you’re an Undergraduate, Postgraduate or a visiting student, you will have a great experience. The time unfortunately will fly by, but this great list of different things you should do while at Brunel University is sure to give you some inspiration – something we all need during these cold winter months! London is an amazing city to be a student in, it offers us so much! This list ranges from things such as landmarks to see, places to travel, and most importantly, graduation! Read on!


There is plenty to do aside from the library!


1. Explore London!


London is simply one of the greatest cities in the world! The abundance of tourists seen goes to show what a special place it is! There is so much to see, from the popular spots such as the London Eye and Big Ben, to the markets and parks. There are excellent transport links, meaning you can easily get around! Even if you just take a day trip, it is well worth exploring the great city!


2. Utilise the Student’s Union

Brunel University’s Student’s Union is well worth engaging with. There are well over 100 societies on offer – you should definitely join some and take part in activities. This offers an excellent way of making friend’s! There are other great things like Open Mic Night every Sunday, while the SU is great for anything advice-related.


3. Enjoy the Nightlife!

While expensive, Brunel University’s surrounding area offers a great nightlife! Regardless of your taste – there should be something for everyone. Whether it is pubs or nightclubs, there is an excellent range. Of course the most popular location is Liquid – with the Wednesday night edition providing student’s with countless memorable moments (and some forgettable ones too!). It is well worth exploring the local clubs and pubs.




4. Learn About Different Cultures

Brunel University features a wide array of different nationalities. Looking further afar, London is a highly-multicultural city. Getting to know student’s from other countries is always an interesting experience – and certainly recommended. Wherever possible, you could also try their cuisine – you might be pleasantly surprised!



5. Try Out the Sport Facilities


One of the specialities of our University is its sport facilities! It is no coincidence that Usain Bolt – the fastest man in the world, has used our facilities! They truly are world-class! Whether you are a serious athlete looking to compete for the University, or just looking to get some casual exercise, there is something for everyone!


6. Visit the Battle of Britain Bunker

Located near to the University, the Battle of Britain Bunker provides a very interesting experience – showcasing various parts of the history of the United Kingdom. You will be able to learn a lot, and is something that can be done either alone or in a group – a great idea either way!




7. Southlands Arts Centre

The building alone should be enough to make you want to visit! The stunning Grade II listed building features several arts and crafts exhibitions year-round, and features a great mix of both classic and contemporary art. If you are into Art, this is a must-visit – plus you can visit multiple times in a year and get something new each time!


8. Black Park

Located in neighbouring Slough – Black Park is perfect for many occasions – whether it be a morning off, or an afternoon to relax. There are plenty of walks to do, and it can be a very relaxing place to visit. It is incredibly picturesque, and sometimes escaping London for a few hours can be quite therapeutic!


9. Study Hard!

While perhaps not as fun as most of the suggestions in this article – this is still a critical element of University! However, what is most important is to get a good work/life balance. By doing this, you’ll be able to harness your mind’s full capabilities – ending in great results! With the University boasting strong graduate prospects, your hard work can certainly pay off!

10. Graduate!
