The University of Greenwich offers a great student experience – and there is plenty to do here. 1. Explore London!

Obvious landmarks to see include the Houses of Parliament, Big Ben and the London Eye! But also consider some of the parks and markets that are available! There are many transport options in London, meaning exploration is easily done! London is an amazing city – make the most of it!
2. Utilise the Student’s Union
The University of Greenwich Student’s Union is well worth engaging with, and the work they do is really positive for students. The SU offers many societies – check out a full list here. Without doubt, there is something for everyone – with the societies ranging from academic-based to hobby-based. Societies offer a great chance to make friends and socialise. The SU also runs regular campaigns to support students. For anything advice related, consider the SU too!
3. Enjoy the Nightlife!
London offers a stunning nightlife! There are a huge range of places to visit. Whether bars, pubs or nightclubs are your thing – there will be something for you! It is well worth taking time out in the evenings to ‘recharge your batteries’.
4. Learn About Different Cultures
Our University boasts a broad international community – with many different countries represented. This is certainly something well worth taking advantage of. You can learn about different cultures. Wherever possible, you should try their cuisine – you might be positively surprised! Either way, this is always something worth doing!
5. Try Out the Sport Facilities
The University boasts fantastic sports facilities – as a student here, you should take advantage of them. Whether you are just a casual player looking for something fun and exercise – or someone looking to compete for the University, it is certainly worth trying something! Societies are an excellent way of trying out sports. The University has many competitive teams which compete against other University’s on Wednesdays.
6. Visit Greenwich Park
This is something very popular for students to do! Greenwich Park offers stunning views of London and the River Thames. Along the sprawling manor you’ll see deer, the Royal Observatory (we’ll talk more about this later) and more. As mentioned, the views are stunning, and you can clearly see the City of London too. Greenwich Park is a world away from the city!
7. Emirates Air Line Cable Car
Similar to the London Eye – the Emirates Air Line cable car is near to the University and offers the chance for you to see incredible views! You’ll be able to see London at 360 degrees. You’ll see the River Thames in all its glory, Canary Wharf, the Shard and of course The O2. We recommend visiting in the night – seeing London during the evening is an amazing and unforgettable sight!
8. See The Royal Observatory
The Royal Observatory is one of the most iconic sights in London. By visiting here, you will undoubtedly learn a lot through the on-site museum. At this site, one of the incredible things you can do is set foot in each hemisphere at once! The site hosts the UK’s largest refracting telescope, along with a 4.5 billion year-old asteroid! Certainly a must-see!
9. Visit Other Parts of the United Kingdom!
The United Kingdom features some incredible cities. Day trips to the likes of Brighton, Reading, Birmingham, and even Manchester or Leeds are available. For an extended trip – consider onward travel to the likes of Newcastle, Bristol or coastal areas! There is a lot to see, the UK features some amazing landmarks!
