Argentina certainly has an interesting history! The roots of the country can be dated back thousands of years. Argentina became colonised, with Europeans first arriving in Argentina in the early 1500s. Other colonisation efforts were made by fellow Southern Americans, though the Spanish Empire eventually completed the colonisation. In a battle over independence, Argentina would split into two areas, before 1861, when the country finally reunified following years of fighting. By the 1900s Argentina’s economy was booming, helped by a rise in European immigration. Yet hard times would soon follow, with a coup being staged in the early 1930s. The nation remained neutral in World War II, though had other problems including fraudulent elections, a further coup and questionable treaties. The country struggled through much of the 1900s, but around the turn of the Millennium improved, and in the contemporary age is considered to be a very powerful nation.
