12 Things To Do While At Middlesex University

Middlesex University offers a great student experience – with plenty of things happening that can help make your years as a student turn into some amazing memories. The Middlesex area hosts many students, making it a great place to study! Whether you’re an undergraduate, postgraduate or visiting student, you will have an enjoyable time! Unfortunately the time will fly by – but you’ll certainly have enough time to do everything on this list! This article should give you some inspiration to get the most out of your stay at Middlesex. Many an hour will be spent in the library (hopefully), but there are a lot of other places to see in your spare time!


1.  Explore London!


Being on London’s doorstep is something well worth taking advantage of! London is one of the most amazing cities in the world – as evidenced by the millions of tourists that visit year-on-year. Obvious landmarks to see include Big Ben, the London Eye and the Houses of Parliament – though London is full of lesser-known sites too. These include an abundance of parks, museums and markets. 2. Utilise the Student’s Union

It is well worth engaging with the Middlesex Student’s Union! The union offers many activities for students to enjoy, and provide general student support whenever required. There are a range of societies too, which are great for making friends, developing new hobbies and interests – and of course above all else – having fun! Societies range from being academic-based to hobby-based – there should be something for everyone. 3. Enjoy the Nightlife!


The surrounding area offers an impressive nightlife! There is an abundance of places to visit in the Middlesex area, and a trip to London for a night out is realistic. Each place in the local area offers something unique! Whether bars, pubs or nightclubs are your thing – you can certainly find something! It is well worth taking time out in the evenings to recharge your batteries.


4. Learn about Different Cultures!

Middlesex features an incredible range of nationalities – boasting a diverse range of cultures – this is something well worth taking advantage of. This doesn’t mean you should find two other people, sit on a piece of lawn somewhere and recreate the corny picture seen on every front cover of a University prospectus. Instead, and jokes aside, try and learn about different cultures, try out a new cuisine style, and just generally make friends! The ability of working with people from different backgrounds is an excellent asset to have!




5. Try Out the Sport Facilities


Middlesex University boasts impressive sports facilities – as a student here, you should take advantage of them. Whether you are just a casual player playing for fun, wanting to get exercise, or compete for the University – it is something worth trying. For those who do take sport seriously, Middlesex is part of many BUCS leagues, giving you the chance to compete against other Universities, with many sports featuring competitive teams. As mentioned earlier, societies are an excellent way of trying out sports.


6. Visit the Freud Museum

The Freud Museum is one of several museums in the local area worth visiting. Located in Hampstead, the museum was the home of Sigmund Freud and his family, following their escape from Austria’s Nazi rule in 1938. The museum offers an interesting look at the life of Freud and his family, including an impressive collection of antiques. For fans of museums – the British Museum isn’t too far away either – and is another site worth visiting!


7. Shop at Brent Cross Shopping Centre


This is a must-visit for shopping fans. The Brent Cross shopping centre is a very popular location, and features a range of stores. There are over 100 stores that feature lifestyle, beauty and fashion areas. While a walk might be too much – especially if you’ve had a busy shopping day – it is easy to get here via a bus and is something well worth doing!


8. Try out Questroom!

Questroom is a relatively new addition to the area – and can be reached by train or bus easily. Questroom is a live escape game – where you and your team must solve puzzles to solve mysteries and ultimately escape within an hour. Teamwork is imperative – and therefore it is a fun activity to do with friends.




9. Relax at Hampstead Heath


Hampstead Heath is one of the most picturesque locations in the area. The area offers the perfect chance to escape the hustle and bustle of day-to-day life. The area is very quiet, and perfect for relaxation. Just a word of warning – the lack of signs in the area mean that you should be careful to keep track of your route!


10. Visit Other Parts of the United Kingdom!


The United Kingdom features some incredible cities. Getting around is easy in the London area, while the UK generally has a good transport system. London is the obvious choice, given the range of landmarks to see, while the likes of Oxford, Birmingham and Bristol are all worth visiting too. 11. Study Hard!

While this isn’t as fun as most of the suggestions in this article – this is still a critical element of University! However, what is most important is to get a good work/life balance. By doing this, you’ll be able to harness your mind’s full capabilities – ending in great results! With the University boasting good graduate prospects, your hard work can certainly pay off!


12. Graduate!


The single most important part of being a student at Middlesex – graduation! This is where your year’s of hard work will pay off – ensure you get to this day!
