The district of Partick in Glasgow – a popular location for many students attending the University of Glasgow – has been named as one of the coolest neighbourhoods in the United Kingdom! While this may well come as a surprise to many residents in the area and the wider community – Patrick is actually a hugely popular area, and is a highly convenient location to live. Partick secured this prestigious headline due to a Travel Supermarket annual list. Read on for the full story.
Price comparison site TravelSupermarket announced their annual list of inner-city areas worth exploring in the United Kingdom. Partick came home in the top ten, finishing a highly-respectable 9th, and beating the previous incumbent of ‘Scotland’s coolest district’ – Finnieston, which finished 15th. Partick was in some esteemed company, and was the highest placed Scottish entry! As mentioned, Partick is a firm student favourite, and therefore we couldn’t agree more with the judges!
The judges particularly praised Partick’s transport links, the nearby Riverside Museum, the range of murals, and the abundance of food outlets. Several accommodation blocks are present in Partick – housing hundreds of students. Given the close proximity from Partick to the University campus, coupled with its convenience, it is clear to see why students love the area. Without the notorious Dumbarton Road – which is known for its contributions to pollution levels – who knows where Partick would finish!
