Welcome to the Weekly Bulletin of News for Monday 2nd April 2018. Here is a brief summary of the news emanating from the world in the past week.



  • A ball-tampering scandal has brought the sport of Cricket into disrepute. In a match between Australia and South Africa, three players from Australia attempted to tamper with the ball – illegal in the sport – in an attempt to gain an advantage. The tampering was caught on camera, and resulted in mass criticism of Australia, and the condemnation of the players involved. The coach and players involved apologised, with many having been suspended as a result.



  • The Christian world has been celebrating Easter Sunday. This followed up Good Friday, and ends the Easter period.
  • USA and China are adding tariffs to imports from either country. USA were first to announce the tariffs, before China hit back in response.
  • Staying with China, their space station Tiangong-1 has finally re-emerged on Planet Earth, having crashed into the Pacific Ocean. China lost control of the space station, and there had been fears that it could cause damage upon reentry. However, the majority of the station broke up in the atmosphere.

  • US President Donald Trump has been criticising Amazon for their tax record in the US and afar. Amazon has been criticised in the past for their tax dealings.



  • Talks over Brexit continue.



  • As a result of Trump’s attack on Amazon, shares in the company have dropped significantly in recent days.
